Stefanie Klavens spent her wayward youth experimenting with fashion design and performance. She could be heard on WMBR’s Late Riser’s Club weekly as Luncheonette, the cooking show host who could not cook. After poisoning many people who were foolish enough to try her recipes, Luncheonette escaped the authorities by returning to her given name
and turning her energies towards photography. Stefanie’s photographs document subject matter often taken for granted: historic single-screen movie palaces, disappearing drive-in theaters, and the quirky individuality displayed in private homes and places of business. Through her work she preserves a record of the past. Stefanie’s photographs have been featured in CNN, Slate, and the Boston Globe, and have been displayed in numerous exhibits across the country.
