Michael Marotta is the editor and founder of Vanyaland, an award-winning Online music magazine and digital radio station founded in 2013. Before that, he was music editor of the Boston Phoenix and music director of WFNX.com, and his writing  has appeared in SPIN, Boston Magazine, and Boston Herald. Throughout the 2000’s he was DJ and promoter for the long-running Boston indie dance night the Pill, before Vanyaland he owned and operated indie label Vanya Records out of his Allston apartment, issuing vinyl releases from Bearstronaut, the New Highway Hymnal, and Andre Obin. He’s originally from New York, but he’s a true Masshole at heart.
